Okan University was established in 1999, and the Okan Culture and Education Foundation sponsored the construction and operation of the university. But the university did not begin operating as an official university until the year 2003-2004. It has begun to reap many awards and obtain international and local accreditations significantly since 2006, making it one of the most developed universities in Istanbul at the present time. It has begun to compete with many European universities in different fields of study and programs. Istanbul Okan University includes three university branches distributed in the city of Istanbul.

• The main campus in Tuzla: The main campus is located in the Asian section of Istanbul, in the Tuzla area, known for its elegant and beautiful architectural design. It contains many study halls that are equipped with all necessary means, modern medical laboratories and research centers, in addition to a library and meeting rooms. The university includes the College of Engineering, the College of Law, the College of Architecture and Design, the College of Languages, and the College of Science and Health. • Second Campus of Mecidiyekoy: The main center of the Mecidiyekoy Campus is the dental training centers, where students are trained in practical practice and treatment of patients. From the third year onwards, dental students pursue their theoretical courses and clinical training at the “Dental Education and Training Hospital”, It is 20 minutes away from the Tuzla campus and 5 minutes away from Okan University Hospital in Istanbul.
