State student housing, known as KYK, is spread across many Turkish states, with a total of about 400 university dormitories under the supervision of the Turkish Ministry of Youth and Sports, containing more than 370 thousand beds. Registration in these university dormitories in Turkey requires foreign students to apply for a competition, and they are usually allocated to students receiving a Turkish scholarship or Turkish students. The cost of living in them ranges between 200 and 400 Turkish liras per month, depending on the location of the dormitory and the area in which it is located. Students are also required to pay a security deposit of 500 Turkish liras. Most of these dormitories are closed during the summer vacation to arrange summer courses and university training, while some dormitories remain open during the summer vacation.

Endowment student housing

Student endowment housing in Turkey is not as widespread as government and private housing. It is mainly active in three provinces: Istanbul, Izmir and Antalya. It is supervised by either the Turkish Religious Foundation, charitable organizations or religious associations. It is characterized by its symbolic costs and is often free, as students are accepted after passing a personal interview to get to know them. What distinguishes this type of housing is the presence of periodic programs and seminars supervised by teachers and religious professors. These housing units are characterized by being more organized, reliable, modern and safe. These housing units receive all foreign students, which contributes to creating a diverse international cultural environment.
